[invite] Bianca: I spent the formative years of my teenage years avoiding Burwood like the plague, it was my local ‘hang-out’ when school let out, we’d flock. Now, they have some rather enticing food offerings luring me back. Tim Ho Wan has jumped ship but there’s still The Picnic, Bello The Shelter, Choc Pot and now Lil Miss Collins. They have another outpost Lil Miss Collins Parramatta which we really enjoyed.
Head straight to Level 1, right outside Target. Mum really enjoyed her Skim Mocha $4.5, with a perfect balance of smooth chocolate and the bitterness from the coffee. The Carrot Cake was really just a little guilty pleasure, perfect for a quick little treat pre or post-shopping.
I would highly suggest the Miss Collins Sweet Potato Fritters -w/ vego fritters on a bed of smashed peas, daikon, poached egg, baby beets & sriracha hollandaise sauce $19. This was both a celebration of flavours and texture, silky sweet potato mash encased in a crispy breaded outer shell. The peas were perfectly seasoned and the pops of sweetness from the pomegranate seeds just added a whole other element. This was light, fresh and ultimately, super delicious.
The Nutella Waffles -/ w fresh berries, vanilla ice-cream, Persian fairy floss, banana, caramelised nuts and maple syrup $19 sounded great on paper but had some flaws. I liked the freshness of the berries, poached pear and banana but for a dessert, it lacked that ‘wow’ indulgent factor. I think this mainly attributed to the way Nutella was used, as a smear on the side of the plate, I would have loved Nutella to be used throughout the waffle itself or as an additional pouring element.
To break up the sweetness, the Shoestring Fries $6 were a godsend. Super crispy and moreish.
The Collins Crunchy French Toast- w/ cornflakes, cinnamon pistachio crumb, vanilla infused mascarpone cheese, caramelised banana, fresh berries & strawberry infused maple syrup $19 is really what you should go for if decadence is your jam. I wasn’t sure how well the flavour would be distributed with such a huge block of brioche but each bite with all the elements was both fluffy, crispy, sweet, salty. You just have to add the Crispy Bacon $5, it makes all the difference.

Carrot cake is a guilty pleasure of mine too haha. That French toast sounds very interesting.
I think the crunchy French toast appealed to me the most 😀
You made me feel hungry with all those foods!
