International Women’s Day Afternoon Tea – Fullerton Hotel, Sydney

Vanessa: On a rare occasion that Bianca and I were sans babies, we took the opportunity to spend the afternoon at the Fullerton hotel.

We were particularly lucky to have been invited to experience the International Womens’ Day afternoon tea, taking place throughout the month of March.

The Fullerton Hotel (previosuly the Westin) is a grand structure with beautiful interiors, centrally located at Martin Place and a stones throw away from Wynyard station.

We were seated in the lobby bar which is naturally lit and spacious. Whilst we waited for the arrival of our afternoon tea we sipped on “Sydney Slings”, a refreshing cocktail from the extensive drinks menu.

Our afternoon tea arrived and as anticipated it was vibrant and beautifully presented, with a distinct purple theme across both sweet and savory items. Purple is the official colour of International Women’s Day and a portion of the proceeds from every purple afternoon tea will be donated to the non-profit organisation UN Woman Australia.

I tend to lean into the savory options rather than the sweet and these were perfect. I can’t go past the traditional cucumber sandwiches and they delivered on expectations.

The sweets were so beautiful you felt bad to bite into them. The purple sponge cream roll was one of my favorites as well as the macarons.

Of course, no afternoon tea would be complete without fresh scones, paired with chunky strawberry jam and clotted cream. My absolute favorite and I made sure to leave room!

We were also treated to a special addition to the menu in celebration of Mardi Gras as we visited on March 5th.

So if you are looking for something to do this weekend then treat yourself to this afternoon tea, it is available until the 31st March. Bookings are required and it is available to experience between 12pm-6pm.

Enjoy!

  1. The desserts and sweets offered look amazing! Such a nice way to pamper yourself and relax with some friends. Is this activity a yearly thing? I saw that it finished in March, but will it go again next year?
