[invite] Bianca: Here at FFS we’ve worshipped Fried chicken for many a moon, with the little fast food joint KFC being a top favourite of Vanessa’s. I typically shy away from ‘working’ for my food so I’ve never been mad for anything with bones. I’m really all about that #nugglife. But when Belles opened their first Sydney outpost in Barangaroo back in 2015 I started to see fried chicken in a very very different light.
I was very excited for Ness to have her first Belles experience and with our honourary 4th member Vincenz in tow, we made a beeline for The Tramsheds in Glebe.
We were rather ambitious in our ordering but never fear, whatever we didn’t eat we brought home to our main squeezes…
I adore the Tenders $19 +1 side they’re typically my go to. Generally, I’ll go with medium heat and a side of Old Bay Fries. Succulent and juicy with a crispy outer coating, I love the juxtaposition between the white inner meat and the fiery outer coating, always trips me out. Definitely spring for some side sauces, we tried a bit of everything but our faves were the Ranch, Blue Cheese and Mississippi Comeback (3 for $5). Make sure you order the Mac & Cheese +$1 (for sides).
Mind-blowingly hot were the ‘Really Hot’ Wings $17 -w/ a side of Three Bean Salad. Big ol plump wings, flush with ample meat and a super crunchy exterior. Don’t mess with the spice if you’re marshmallows like us.
I was intrigued by the Peach BBQ Ribs $14 despite my aversion to fighting for my food, these were tasty, with a mild sweetness.
Ness loves a good Drumstick $17 -w/ a side of Coleslaw, another example of a good quality product. Nothing worse than a skimpy drumstick.
But down to my absolute favourites. Along with the Tenders is my other go-to, the Belles Chicken Sandwich $18 -w/a side of Old Bay Fries. Swooooooon, a ginormous, crispy medium heat chicken thigh, American cheese & shredded lettuce. One of the best chicken burgers in Sydney!
The Hot Mushroom Sandwich $16 is a total winner and not just a token vegetarian option. I’d totally order this again. A crumbed and fried mushroom ‘patty’ with lettuce, American cheese and a FIERY sauce.
We left satisfied and 5kgs heavier, we’ll be back Belles!
Bianca
