Black Bar & Grill, The Star, Pyrmont.

[invite] Bianca: What better way is there than to spend a gorgeous sunny day, window side. Overlooking Jones Bay Wharf, sipping champagne and indulging in some ‘fruits of the sea’.

Black 1-1

We were at Black Bar & Grill for their Seafood & Champagne lunch, running every Saturday & Sunday, until the 30th of September. For $140 a beautiful, seasonal Australian Seafood tower for 2 is served. With 2 hours of bottomless Moet & Chandon Champagne. To say that we left very MERRY is a giant understatement.

Black 5-1

We started with a wonderfully ‘bottomless’ crisp glass of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Nv. I don’t believe I ever saw my glass empty, a very very dangerous but welcome situation!

Complimentary bread and butter is always welcome, especially when it’s a darling little Brioche Loaf & Pepe Saya Butter. We had two…

Black 6-1

Gorgeously presented, our Seafood lunch for 3 comprised of Sydney Rock Oysters, Pambula. Of which Vanessa and mum both indulged, both mentioned how incredibly fresh, plump and sweet each oyster was.

Black 8-1

Hervey Bay Scallops QLD w/ Yarra Valley Salmon Roe VIC texturally was perfect, buttery in the mouth with little resistance. A mild fishiness, accented by the raw Spanish onion, chives and spices. We definitely had our favourites, the Eastern Rock Lobster NSW paired with the accompanying condiments was glorious. Possibly one of the best lobsters I’ve had.

The King Prawns, Clarence River were another highlight, succulent and very fresh. I generally shy away from prawns (and all seafood in general, really) but I adored these. Spanner Crab, Fraser Island were served as little delicate tacos. Delightful little morsels that packed a sweet punch.

Black 14-1

And finally, paper-thin pieces of luscious velvety Salmon with cream cheese.

Black 12-1

And to finish, we couldn’t help ourselves. The Full Selection of Artisan Cheese $28. Comprising of Holy Goat Goats cheese, Tarwin Berry’s Creek Blue, L’ARTISAN Le Rouge and Pyengana Cheddar. Our stand-outs were the cheddar and the blue. Loved the Soda Bread ‘cracker’ super interesting. If we had any feedback, we thought the cheese to cracker ratio was off, we would have loved more crackers.
